Netball Nights – Code of Conduct

Expectations of Players

Respect

At Netball Nights, we are committed to promoting a fun and positive environment for all players.

This relies on everyone playing their part by upholding high standards of behaviour.

  • Play with respect, fairness, and enthusiasm.
  • Enjoy the game and ensure it remains an inclusive and positive experience for all.
  • Follow this Code of Conduct at all times.

Sportsmanship

Netball is a competitive yet social sport. While games may become intense, maintaining good sportsmanship is essential.

  • Compete with integrity and fairness.
  • Respect all players, opponents, and umpires.
  • Any behaviour deemed unacceptable by staff may result in suspension or removal from the game or league.

Umpires

Umpires have complete control of the game, and their decisions are final.

  • Accept and respect all umpiring decisions, even if you disagree.
  • Understand that umpires enforce rules through penalties, including free pass, penalty pass (or penalty pass or shot), throw-in, and toss-up.
  • Recognise that umpiring is a demanding role – without umpires, the game cannot take place.

As a Netball Nights Player, You Agree To:

✅ Respect the Umpires:

  • Listen to and accept the umpire's decisions.
  • Adjust your play and behaviour accordingly.

✅ Follow the Rules:

  • Adhere to the official rules of the game.
  • Comply with the jewellery, nails, and piercings regulations.

✅ Encourage Fair Play:

  • Behave in the spirit of the game, promoting fairness and inclusivity.
  • Never engage in bullying, offensive, insulting, or abusive behaviour.
  • Avoid public criticism of players, umpires, or staff.

✅ Communicate Respectfully:

  • Speak to teammates, opponents, and umpires with courtesy.
  • If you have a concern about the game, raise it through your team captain during breaks, not during play.

✅ Enjoy the Game:

  • Remember, everyone makes mistakes – it’s part of the game.
  • Most importantly, have fun and enjoy social netball!
